FAQ
Questions, answered plainly
If yours isn't here, write to support@xcoach.example.
- Is Xcoach for pro athletes?
- No. It's built for people who ride and run for the love of it — commuters, weekend riders, people training for their first sportive or coming back after years off. Pros have coaches. For everyone else, a coach that answers every session is the part that's usually missing.
- Which sports? Do I need a power meter?
- Cycling and running, indoor and outdoor — anything intervals.icu records. You don't need a power meter: heart rate, time, distance and climbing say plenty. Data you don't have is skipped, never invented.
- What does it read from intervals.icu?
- Your activities (time, distance, elevation, heart rate, power and pace where you have them, time in zones, temperature, the activity name), wellness entries if you log them (like resting heart rate and HRV), calendar entries, and settings such as time zone, units, FTP and zones. Activities that reached intervals.icu from Strava can't be read by any third-party app under Strava's terms, so it's best to connect your device to intervals.icu directly.
- Does it ever write to my intervals.icu account?
- No. Xcoach asks for read-only access and never changes anything in intervals.icu — no descriptions, no calendar entries. Its notes live in Xcoach.
- Why intervals.icu?
- It already does the analysis brilliantly and connects to almost every device. We add the coach, not another dashboard.
- Why is there no questionnaire when I sign up?
- Because your training history already answers most of it. Xcoach reads your whole history and writes you a first letter about what it sees. Goals, injuries, your schedule and how you like to be spoken to come up naturally in conversation, and it remembers them.
- What if I stop riding for a while?
- It won't nag you for resting. When you come back, it knows you're coming back — that's treated as its own stage, not as “you've lost fitness”. It measures you against your form since the return, so the first weeks back still have good news in them.
- Does it give diet or weight-loss advice?
- No. It will explain why a sports dietitian or a doctor is the right person for that, then help with the training side. It also doesn't diagnose injuries: it remembers them and works around them.
- Will it build my training plan?
- Not yet. You can talk through how to train in the chat, and it will take your goals and constraints into account. Automatic plans are on the roadmap.
- Which languages does it speak?
- English and Chinese. It picks one when you join, based on your intervals.icu profile, and keeps to it so your conversation doesn't switch halfway. If it picked the wrong one, write to support@xcoach.example.
- How do I export or delete my data?
- In Settings → Data. Export gives you a file with everything we hold about you. Delete removes your account and all your data, and revokes Xcoach's access to intervals.icu. Delete means gone.
- How much does it cost?
- Free gives you a reply to every session and 30 questions a month. Pro is US$5 a month and adds unlimited questions (fair use), check-ins when something's worth saying, and a portrait built from three years of history. See the pricing page for the details.
